7 Basics to a Killer Closet
How many times have you been in a style rut? For me, too many times to count. Given this unfortunate time for our closet, it's about time to evaluate what really lives in our closets (and I'm not talking about dust bunnies).
First things first, take a deep breath *in and out*. Okay, good. Now that you are calm, there is no need to stress about throwing out your whole wardrobe and starting over again. Nope, we just need to look a little deeper into your closet. You may ask me "Well, what do you mean?". I mean, we need to check out if you own these following items that are the foundation to a killer closet.
With that being said, you only really need a select few of items to make any outfit/ closet strong. These items that I am about to share, are the foundation of your closet and so universal as well as timeless.
Let's start off with pants. I've said it once and I'll say it again you can never EVER go wrong with a pair of denim. If they are high-waisted, skinny, boyfriend, low rise, bootcut, and the list goes on and on, everyone needs their favorite pair. A continuing trend that you will see here, is that every item mentioned is so versatile and easy to mix and match with anything. You can dress denim up and down easily by pairing sneakers or even heels with it.
TOPS: Aka Graphic Tee, Blouse, and a White Tee
Now, most of the time you can catch me wearing a graphic tee or just a plain white tee. BAM, just like that this can make an outfit (honestly every item I'm mentioning makes an outfit). Like seriously, what doesn't go with these tops? Yeah see, I bet you have no answer because just like those two tees, a good 'ol blouse does the same trick! Seriously, guys you can tie, tuck, knot, and so on and so forth with any of these tops I have mentioned.
JACKETS: Leather & Denim Jackets
Yes, now my favorite part to an outfit. Jackets can add just the little something-something you were looking for to complete your outfit. A leather jacket can make any outfit look edgy but put together at the same time. I personally, love to throw on a leather jacket because A its so easy and B it gives that effortless model-off-duty look. If you don't have a leather jacket or are too scared to go that route, I am positive you have a denim jacket laying somewhere in your closet. Giving the same effect to an outfit, without the leap of going all Grease on us.
CONVERSE: Chuck Taylors
You can never go wrong with a pair of Chuck Taylor's. I'm not sure if you got the message yet, but ALL these items are classics. Just throw on some converse and walk out of the house because yes they are a fashion statement. You can even choose a bright color like red or blue, to spice up and outfit to create a fun statement.
Like I mentioned before, style ruts suck. Seriously. But, with one check of your closet, you might be pleasantly surprised that you own some key pieces that are the foundation of your closet. It just takes a different outlook to see that you have all the essentials to take you right out of your style rut, and into your next fashion adventure.
